Making the web

Easier to use

Clunky and unusable websites are so last year. I aim to help make the web a place that is easier to navigate.

The term UX is not one unfamiliar to developers and even most users in this day and age. It is often talked about and usually misunderstood. Many use UI (User Interface) and UX (User Experience) interchangeably, though they are two completely different things. Even those who understand the distinction between UI and UX can still get confused or can still misunderstand the core idea of UX. For many this confusion stems from the fact that UX is mainly considered and thought of from a visual stand point and not from a holistic stand point. So what is UX then?

User Experience is, in essence, how a user interacts with a product: visually and invisiblly. This means that it is impacted from UI design right through to how databases are made and managed. UX is not just the purview of the front-end but a full and overarching process that sits on top of your app or website. You can have the most sensible information architecture with the cleanest, most understandable animations but have a terrible user experience because you have only catered for UX on a design level. If you don't have UX buy-in from the ground up, your app isn't going to have good UX.

I have year of experience working closely with UX designer and promoting user experience within the development process, as an integrated part of development. From helping to prototype ideas at a high level to validate UX concepts down to considering how APIs and databases are built to cater for UX needs and requirements to working with deployment pipelines and build processes, I have a range of experience in helping teams consider UX in every part of their app or website build.
